Dusk till midnight. Attention Fishermen! Come join us for an evening of fishing until midnight. There is no advanced registration for this program, just be in the park by dusk as the front gate will close at the regular closing time. All vehicles must leave by midnight. No alcohol and no fires.

Maryland Safe Boating Course at Downs Park on Saturday, May 17 and Saturday, May 24. Students must attend both classes and pass a written test to receive their license. There is a non-refundable & non-transferable program fee of $25 per person. Registration must take place in person at the park office. Limited space is available, so enroll today!

Why throw away grass trimmings, raked leaves and kitchen scraps when you can turn them into rich compost in your backyard? Use these materials instead for mulching and soil amendment. Come to a training session given by Master Gardeners twice monthly. Receive a free composting unit or troubleshooting guide while supplies last. Meet at the composting demonstration site on Wildwood Trail. Canceled in the event of rain. Park fees apply.

Join Ranger Jessica as we explore the tasty world of herbs. We will learn the historical use of some popular cooking herbs and what health benefits are historically associated with them. Fishing dusk through midnight. Downs Park is offering extended hours for fishermen who wish to use the pier during the night time hours. All participants must be in the park by dusk, as the park gates will close at the normal time. It gets fairly dark at Downs, so please bring flashlights or lanterns for your safety. Alcohol is strictly prohibited.

Come learn from Ranger Melissa how plants multiply and grow. Ever wondered what plants need to grow and how more are created. Discover these and many more answers. Use a leaf or use a stem. You’ll get a chance to propagate your own. You can even take it home to grow. This program is for adults and children ages 7 and up. Meet at the Earleigh Heights Ranger Station.

Join the Park Rangers on this important day as we restore and cleanup several areas of Weinberg Park. Please make sure you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. A good pair of work boots and some gloves are highly recommended. Please meet in the first parking lot at Fort Smallwood Park.
