Abandoned Easter Chicks & Ducklings |

|
| |
| Twins Timothy and Frances Zyla rescued three baby chicks that were abandoned at Lake Waterford Park just two days after the Easter holiday. The chicks were fortunate that the Zylas came along when they did as there were hawks circling overhead. Even if the hawks didn’t get them they certainly would not have lived long without the care they required. |

Easter is a particularly popular holiday to give baby chicks and ducklings as presents. What seems like a cute gift to give a child turns out to be a burden to many people. All too often these domestic animals end up in environments where they have difficultly or cannot survive. Most of the time these baby animals aren’t lucky enough to have a family like the Zylas come along and they fall prey to hawks, foxes and other carnivores. |

Please remember that it is illegal, as well as inhumane, to drop off animals in Anne Arundel County parks. |
