| | | Recreation and Parks - About Us - Mission Statement | |  | | Director’s Message | | | I would like to thank everyone that took the time to participate in our recent online survey. Your input is invaluable to the Department of Recreation & Parks as we strive to achieve our goals and meet the needs of our citizens in a difficult economic climate.
Recently, I formed a Steering Committee comprised of Recreation and Parks staff members representing each division of our department. This Steering Committee helped initiate and analyze the online survey. The committee’s next objective was to address the 2,553 citizen survey responses. General observations from the survey provided valuable information and subcommittees were formed to address many issues that were raised to include, Automation & Technology, Marketing & Public Relation, Facilities Management and Volunteer Mobilization.
One of the immediate objectives we discovered was the need to educate the public of about who we are and the expanse of services we provide for the citizens of Anne Arundel County. Our mission is to enrich the lives of our citizens by offering quality active and passive recreational opportunities and accessible youth and adult services while pursuing the preservation and enhancement of our natural, cultural and historic resources. |
