2013 Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan (LPPRP)
The 2013 Land Preservation Parks and Recreation Plan was approved by County Executive Laura Neuman and adopted by the County Council. The Plan was the subject of Council Bill No 17-13 and received an unanimous vote from the councilmembers on April 25, 2013 after the final public hearing. This plan will guide the Department of Recreation and Parks in preserving open space and providing recreation facilities for the next fifteen years, with updates performed every five years. This document is required by the State of Maryland, and allows the County to receive land acquisition and park development funds from Program Open Space.
The 2013 Plan is the result of a two year effort that included six public meetings, an online survey and public comments received through this website. The plan was reviewed by the Planning Advisory Board (PAB) on January 23, 2013 and additional public comments were received. Based on comments received from The Planning Advisory Board, the Department of Recreation and Parks, and its consultant Environmental Resources Management (ERM), revised The Plan and submitted a final draft to the County Council.
The Department of Recreation and Parks extends its appreciation to all county residents who participated in this process.
