Motor Vehicle 1: 2009 Toyota Prius
Driver: Gregory Alan Cassagne, 59, of the 3100 block of Atlee Ridge Rd, New Windsor, Md
Injuries/Condition: Life threatening, listed in critical condition
Motor Vehicle 2: 2009 Nissan Altima
Driver: Dontay Eugene Parker, 34, of the 8200 block of Autumn Lake Ct, Severn, MD
Injuries/Condition: Non-life threatening, listed is serious but stable
On May 23, 2014, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers from the Western District responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on westbound MD Rt. 175 (Annapolis Rd) at Clark Rd in Jessup, Maryland.
Officers arrived on scene and determined that the driver of the Toyota Prius failed to yield the right of way to the Nissan Altima when making a left turn from Max Blobs Park Road onto westbound MD Rt. 175. The Nissan impacted the right front passenger side of the Toyota. Neither driver was restrained properly by a seat belt. The driver of the Toyota sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Anne Arundel County Paramedic 29. The driver of the Nissan sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Anne Arundel County Paramedic 21.
Crash investigators from the Traffic Safety Section responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The cause of the crash appears to be driver error on the part of the Toyota. Speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash. This investigation is ongoing.
