First Degree Assault - Glen Burnie

On July 5, 2014 at 01:27 AM, Northern District officers responded to the Glen Burnie Town Center, Crain Hwy, for a report of an assault.  A caller advised they observed two males and a female in a fight in front of the M&T Bank ATM.  One male and the female were seen leaving the area in a black truck.

When officers arrived, they found a male bleeding from the hand.  He initially advised that he was using the ATM when a male and female approached him and tried to rob him of his ATM card.  However, his observations did not match those given by witnesses.  Shortly after, a call was received from the Baltimore Washington Medical Center from a stabbing victim in the emergency room; that victim was transported in a black truck driven by a female.

Officers responded to the hospital and spoke with a 57 year old male victim and the driver of the truck.  Investigation revealed the 57 year old victim was attempting to use the ATM when another male approached him, began shouting at him and slashing/stabbing him with a knife.  The victim produced his own knife and attempted to fight back, wounding the suspect.  The victim was able to get back into the truck and was driven to the hospital.  The victim was transferred from BWMC to the University of MD-Shock Trauma for injuries to his arm, neck, and torso.

The description of the assailant matched that of the original subject officers made contact with outside the bank.  This subject was also transported to BWMC by medics and treated for his injuries. He was arrested and charged with attempted 2nd degree homicide, 1st and 2nd degree assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

Suspect:  Garrity, Timothy John, W/M, 609 Mayo Rd, Glen Burnie, MD
