False Commercial Robbery Report in Northern District
FALSE ROBBERY - BROOKLYN PARK
On June 30, 2014, at approximately 11:55 a.m., officers from Northern District responded to the Metro PCS Store located in the 5600 block of Ritchie Highway for a report of an armed robbery of the business.
According to the lone employee, two unknown suspects entered the business, displayed a handgun and announced a robbery. The suspects then fled with property from the business. No injuries were reported during this incident. As patrol responded to the scene, a perceptive patrol officer noticed the clerk with a ladder. A further inspection of the rear of the business revealed that the "stolen" money was actually hidden in the ceiling.
During an interview with detectives, the employee that reported the robbery admitted to making a false report to conceal a theft from the business that he had committed.
The clerk was arrested and charged with false report and theft over $500
