Commercial armed robbery and an armed robbery of a citizen in Western District
COMMERCIAL ARMED ROBBERY HANOVER
On July 23, 2014, at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers from the Western District responded to the Red Roof Inn Plus located in the 7300 block of Parkway Drive South in Hanover in reference to a commercial robbery.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 23-year-old female desk clerk who reported that a male suspect approached her at the counter, pointed a handgun at her and demanded money from the register. The suspect ran out of the building and fled in an unknown direction, taking an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. Numerous officers canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

ARMED ROBBERY (CITIZEN) LAUREL
On July 23, 2014, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers from the Western District responded to the area of Russett Green West and Elderberry Street in Laurel for a report of a citizen robbery.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 28-year-old female victim, who reported that she was walking to her vehicle with two friends as they went to this location to purchase a vehicle after responding to an ad on Craigslist. They soon realized the address they responded to was false and walked back to their vehicle when a male suspect approached them with a handgun. The victim and her friends ran off, but the suspect pursued her, knocked her to the ground and stole her purse. The suspect fled the scene with the victim’s purse and was last seen running away on Oak Run Road. The victim’s purse contained money, a cell phone and other personal items. Several officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the victim, who sustained minor injuries, but declined medical treatment at the scene.
