CDS arrest and the arrest of a suspect involved in assaulting a citizen and a law enforcement officer

On July 24, 2014, at approximately 7:23 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the Target parking lot located in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie for a check occupied vehicle in the parking lot of Target. Information received indicated a female was using drugs in the vehicle.


Upon arrival, officers observed the female inside of a 2013 Nissan Altima and also observed several suspected heroin capsules within the vehicle. The female suspect immediately began to fight with officers. While attempting to apprehend the suspect, she spit in the face of three officers. The suspect was eventually apprehended and taken to Northern District and charged with Possession of CDS: Not Marijuana, Possession of CDS: paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest and Assault (three counts). A total of 11 heroin capsules, weighing 2.90 grams, were recovered from the vehicle.

On July 24, 2014, at approximately 1:17 p.m., officers from the Northern District with assistance from K-9 responded to the 6600 block of Shelly Road in Glen Burnie for a report of a vehicular assault on a citizen and a law enforcement officer that just occurred. 


Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 24-year-old male victim and an Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Deputy. The victims and witnesses reported that the Sheriff’s Deputy was in full uniform executing an eviction on the suspect at the above address. The suspect became disorderly during the eviction process and was asked to leave the property. As she was leaving the property, the suspect spit on one of the employees of the property, entered into her vehicle and backed her vehicle quickly out of a parking spot, striking the employee with her vehicle.  The suspect ran over the employee’s leg, placed the car in drive and ran over the employee again. The suspect attempted to leave the area. The Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop the suspect from leaving the area. The suspect’s vehicle pulled away, striking the Sheriff’s Deputy’s gun belt with the vehicle’s driver side mirror. The suspect ultimately fled the area. The first victim was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Deputy was not injured in the incident.


A lookout for the suspect and vehicle was broadcast.  Officers conducted a canvass of the area and located the suspect in the Dollar Store in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. The suspect was positively identified as the individual that struck the victims.  The suspect was arrested and transported to Northern District, where she was charged with Attempted Manslaughter, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment and several traffic charges.
