Eastern District

Burglary in Glen Burnie

On July 22, 2014, at 11:38 am, officers from eastern district responded to an address in the 7900 block of Oakwood Road in Glen Burnie for a report of a burglary.

Officers spoke to the 73-year-old male victim who reported that a male came to his home, knocked on his door and advised that he was a county employee and needed to cut back some shrubbery. He asked the victim to walk him to the back yard and identify the property line. The resident complied and the suspect kept him there discussing his plans and what he allegedly would be doing to the landscape. The victim states while they were in the yard the suspect was also on the phone talking with someone.

Once the victim returned to his home and the suspect was gone he noticed something out of place. This caused him to go check for valuables where he discovered cash and jewelry were missing. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approx. 30 years of age, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

All county citizens and residence should know that if a subject arrives at their home claiming to be an Anne Arundel County employee they should be able to provide identification. If the visit is not prearranged or is unscheduled don’t hesitate to contact the county agency that the county employee reports to be from. If this person’s presence causes you to be suspicious or uncomfortable dial 911 and ask for an officer to respond.
