Materials Theft Scheme - Glen Burnie


On May 22, 2014, at approximately 9:03 a.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the Home Depot Store located at 66 Mountain Road in Glen Burnie for a reported theft. 

A Loss Prevention Officer reported that an unknown male took numerous items from the shelf (mainly copper flashing) valued at $567.56 and attempted to return the items without a receipt using his Maryland driver’s license.  The cashier copied his information down but, denied the transaction. The suspect then left with the merchandise without paying for the items. Teddy Allan Macey was developed as the suspect. Further Investigation revealed that Macey committed or attempted to commit four other thefts by fraud or deception at the same Home Depot Store beginning on April 4, 2014, totaling $2,423.39.  After video surveillance was provided and the suspect was positively identified, Detectives from CID, Special Enforcement Section, Metal Theft Unit conducted surveillance and located the suspect’s vehicle on Chestnut Hill Avenue in Severna Park. On July 2, 2014, a traffic stop was conducted on the suspect’s vehicle in Severna Park with the assistance of Eastern District officers. Macey was taken into custody without incident and charged with the theft scheme.
