SOUTHERN DISTRICT

 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT                                                                                    ANNAPOLIS

On March 18, 2013, at approximately 7:06 a.m., a fight broke out in the Annapolis High School cafeteria where students were gathered prior to classes starting for the day. The Annapolis High School Resource Officer responded to the cafeteria and discovered that the fight involved several students while other students gathered to watch and formed a loud, disorderly crowd. The SRO requested assistance from other officers, and numerous police officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department and other agencies responded to assist.

The responding officers were able to quickly restore order and control. The preliminary investigation suggests two female students, a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old named Lakyra Reid, became involved in a verbal dispute. The dispute was in response to posts made via social media the preceding weekend. The dispute turned physical when the 15-year-old picked up a chair and hit Reid with it. Several other students became involved in the altercation before officers could restore order. 

 

The two initial suspects were identified and charged as follows:

 

15-year-old female from Annapolis, Maryland, was charged with Affray, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing School Operations, Assault and Reckless Endangerment.  The Assault and Reckless Endangerment charges are in response to the suspect using a metal/plastic chair as a weapon.

 

Lakyra T. Reid, 18, of 1165 Madison Street A3 in Annapolis, Maryland was charged with Affray, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing School Operations, Assault and Resisting Arrest.  The suspect is charged with assaulting a police officer. 


 

 

Other students who joined the affray were arrested and charged as follows:

 

Tamira Monique Smith, 18, of 1195 Madison Street B2 in Annapolis, Maryland was charged with Affray, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing School Operations.

 

15-year-old female from Annapolis, Maryland, was charged with Affray, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing School Operations, Assault and Reckless Endangerment.  The Assault and Reckless Endangerment charges are in response to the suspect using a metal/plastic chair as a weapon.

 

16-year-old female from Annapolis, Maryland was charged with Affray, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing School Operations.

 

15-year-old male from Annapolis, Maryland was charged with Affray, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing School Operations.

 

16-year-old male from Annapolis, Maryland was charged with Affray, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing School Operations and Assault.

WESTERN DISTRICT

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY                                                                                           LAUREL

 

On March 16, 2013, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers from the Western District responded to the area of S. Bruce Street near Gail Street in Laurel for a report of a strong arm robbery. 

 

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 25-year-old male victim, who advised that he was walking on S. Bruce Street and was approached by two unknown male suspects. One suspect punched the victim and knocked him to the ground while the second suspect proceeded to kick the victim while he was on the ground. Both suspects took the victim’s medication, wallet and shoes. The suspects were last seen running on S. Bruce Street towards S. Paula Street. Several officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. The victim refused medical attention.

 

Suspect #1: Hispanic male, approximately 6’0”, 215 pounds with a goatee, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans

Suspect #2: Hispanic male, 5’10”, 175 pounds, wearing a black shirt and blue pants

 

 

EASTERN DISTRICT

 

CDS ARREST                                                                                                                 ARNOLD

 

On March 17, 2013, at approximately 5:30 p.m., an officer from Eastern District conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Tahoe in the area of College Parkway and Peninsula Farm Road for a minor traffic violation. 

 

Officers later learned from a witness that the driver had discarded a large quantity of suspected marijuana from the vehicle prior to the traffic stop. The suspected marijuana was located in the area of Jones Station Road and Mago Vista Road. The marijuana was determined to weight approximately 111.6 grams with an estimated street value of $1,116. As a result, the suspect was arrested and charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute CDS.  Approximately $2,100 and the suspect’s vehicle were seized.

 

Suspect: Darnell Michael Branch, 23, of the 300 block of Hickory Nut Court, Pasadena, Md
