PROSTITUTION ARRESTS                                                                                 LINTHICUM

On March 5, 2013, Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Special Enforcement Section’s Vice Unit conducted an undercover prostitution operation in the Linthicum area hotel district. The operation focused specifically on individuals attempting to solicit sexually services from prostitutes on the internet. Undercover detectives posing as internet escorts made contact with and charged seven individuals who attempted to solicit sexually services in exchange for money. The below individuals were charged on a criminal summons. As a result, there are no booking photos.

COMMERCIAL ARMED ROBBERY                                                                     ODENTON

On March 9, 2013, at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers from the Western District responded to the Verizon Wireless store located in the 8700 block of Piney Orchard Parkway in Odenton for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male employee, who indicated that two male suspects entered the business armed with handguns. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency and merchandise before fleeing the business. Officers, a K-9 unit and the Aviation unit searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.


Suspect #1: Black male, approximately 5’8”, 150 pounds with a dark complexion, wearing a blue ski jacket, a black ski mask and blue jeans

Suspect #2: Black male, approximately 6’1”, 210 pounds with a dark complexion, wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans



THEFT FROM AUTO ARREST                                                                                   SEVERN

 On March 10, 2013, Detectives from Western District’s District Detective Unit were conducting surveillance at the Anne Arundel County landfill locate in the 300 block of Burns Crossing Road in Severn due to several recent theft from autos that took place there. 

At approximately 3:30 a.m., Detectives observed a suspect entered the landfill and proceed to an area where landfill trucks were parked. After approximately 45 minutes, the same subject was observed leaving the landfill. Several patrol officers and a K-9 unit apprehended the subject in a wooded area after a brief foot pursuit. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had removed nine batteries from several trucks and placed them outside of the fence line that surrounded the property. The suspect was arrested and transported to Western District, where he was processed and charged accordingly.

Northern District


Armed Robbery                                                                      Glen Burnie, MD


On March 8, 2013, at approximately 9:58 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot area of Marley Station Mall at 7900 Ritchie Highway in reference to a robbery that just occurred.


Information was received that a subject had his tennis shoes taken at gunpoint. Officers located a victim who advised that the suspect displayed a black handgun and demanded that he remove his shoes. The victim gave the suspect his shoes and the suspect fled on foot. A subject matching the description of the suspect was located nearby, and the victim positively identified him as the one who took his shoes. The shoes were recovered near the suspect. The victim was not injured in the incident. The suspect, Jesse Jordan Scrivner, 16, of the 700 block of Crucible Court in Glen Burnie, was taken into custody and charged as an adult with robbery.

On March 9, 2013 at approximately 0544 hours, officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department and deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a traffic crash on Chesapeake Road near Sansbury Road, Anne Arundel County Maryland. 


Upon arrival responders located two vehicles, a Ford Taurus and a Ford Expedition, in the westbound lane. Both vehicles had sustained heavy front end damage as a result of the crash. The Expedition was found on its side and was on fire. Firefighters from the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Company were also dispatched to the crash, and after evaluating the extent of the injuries to the drivers of the vehicles, pronounced the operator of the Ford Taurus dead at the scene. 


Crash Investigators from the Traffic Safety Section were dispatched to the crash scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.


The operator of the Ford Taurus was identified as Ronald Lignelli of Chesapeake Beach, MD. The operator of the Ford Expedition was identified as Andre Mackall B/M of Owings, MD 20736.  Mr. Mackall was pulled from the vehicle by by-standers prior to the vehicle being engulfed in flames. Mr. Mackall was transported to Prince Georges Trauma Center where he is listed in stable condition.


The initial investigation suggests that the Taurus was traveling east on Chesapeake Beach Road when it crossed the double yellow lane lines into the path of the Expedition. The vehicles struck head-on coming to rest in the westbound lane near the shoulder.


The investigation is ongoing at this time and it is unknown if excessive speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in this crash.

On March 10, 2013 at approximately 1338 hours, officers from the Western District responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at Rt. 3 N/B near Carver Road in Gambrills 21054. Officers arrived on scene and located both vehicles blocking the entrance to the Royal Farm Store. Due the seriousness of the injuries Crash Investigators from the Traffic Safety Section were dispatched to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.


The initial investigation revealed that a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt was attempting to cross Rt.3 N/B to enter the parking lot of the Royal Farm Store and traveled into the path of a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle which was traveling in the left lane. As a result of the crash the operator of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.  The operator of the Chevrolet only received minor injuries.


At this point in the investigation it does not appear that excessive speed or alcohol contributed to this crash. The investigation is on going.
