CHIEF OF POLICE COLONEL LARRY W. TOLLIVER ANNOUNCES THE PROMOTIONS OF FIVE SWORN OFFICERS AND TWO CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES

 

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is proudly announcing the promotions of Captain David Waltemeyer, Jr. to the position of Major of the Administrative Services Bureau, Lieutenant Francis Tewey to the position of Captain of the Eastern District, Sergeant James Phillips to the position of Lieutenant at Eastern District, Corporal Melanie Jamieson to the position of Sergeant at the Western District, Corporal Bobby Crawford to Sergeant at the Community Relations Division, Jeremy Serio to the position of Police Communications Operator III in the Communications Section and Sarah Hice to the position of Police Communications Operator III in the Communications Section at a promotional ceremony to be held on March 1, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Emergency Operations Center located at 7480 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

 

Captain David Waltemeyer, Jr. is being promoted to the rank of Major. He is a 21-year veteran of the department. During his career, he served as a Lieutenant and a platoon commander in the Northern District and commander of the Public Information Office, acting as the department’s spokesperson. He was later promoted to the rank of Captain, where he was the Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division and also served as the commander of the Eastern District for over three years. He will be the Bureau Commander of Administrative Services.

 

Lieutenant Francis Tewey will be promoted to the rank of Captain. He is a 21-year veteran of the department. During his career, he served as a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division, as a patrol supervisor in both Western and Southern Districts and he also commanded the Southern District’s Tactical Patrol and Narcotics Units. Most recently, he was the Commander of the Technology and Property Section at Police Headquarters. He will be the new Commander of the Eastern District.

 

Corporal Melanie Jamieson will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant. She is a 12-year veteran of the department. During her career, she was assigned as a patrol officer at Eastern and Western Districts and also as a Detective at Western District, where she conducted several operations including drug trafficking surveillance, auto theft surveillance and prostitution stings. 

Corporal Bobby Crawford will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He is a 23-year veteran of the department. During his career, he spent time as a Serious Traffic Accident Investigator, a detective in the Narcotics Unit and worked the designated Traffic Enforcement Unit.

 

Sergeant James Phillips will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He is a 24-year veteran of the department. During his career, he served in patrol for Eastern District and in the Special Operations Division Quick Response Team where he served and remained as the team tactical operator.

 

Police Communications Operator II Jeremy Serio will be promoted to the position of PCO III.  He has been with the department for six years. During his tenure, he has received training classes through Anne Arundel County Police Department as a dispatcher and has handled many calls ranging from traffic stops to bank robberies and signal 13’s.

 

Police Communications Operator II Sarah Hice will be promoted to the position of PCO III. She has been with the department for six years. During her time with the agency, she has received training classes through Anne Arundel County Police Department and other agencies throughout the county.
