Rail and Bus Transit Routes

Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis are currently served by a number of different kinds of public and specialized transportation providing both local service and regional connections. The transit providers serving the County include:

Maryland Transit Administration:

1. Light rail service linking downtown Baltimore to Patapsco, Baltimore Highlands, Nursery Road, North Linthicum, Linthicum, BWI Business Park, BWI Airport, Ferndale and Cromwell stations in the County.

2. MTA local bus services:

  • Route 14 between Annapolis, Patapsco light rail station, and downtown Baltimore
  • Route 17 between Parkway Center, BWI Airport, and Patapsco light rail station

3. MTA commuter bus service:

  • Route 921 between Annapolis and New Carrollton Metrorail station
  • Route 922 between Annapolis and Washington, D.C.
  • Route 950 between Kent Island, Annapolis, and downtown Washington, D.C.
  • MARC Commuter Rail service on the Penn line with stops in Odenton and BWI Airport rail stations.

Annapolis Transit Bus Service:

  • Red Route: Annapolis Mall to the Spa Road transfer point via Spa Road, West Street, Admiral Drive and Jennifer Road
  • Yellow Route: Counterclockwise loop linking the Spa Road transfer point to the Eastport area and City Dock via Spa Road, Hilltop Lane, Eastport Plaza, the Spa Creek bridge, Compromise Street, Main Street, Church Circle and West Street to Spa Road
  • Green Route: Two loops meeting at the Spa Road transfer point. The West loop operates from the transfer point via Spa Road, Forest Drive, Riva Road, and West Street back to the transfer point. The east loop operates from the transfer point to City Dock and Eastport via West Street, Church Circle, Duke of Gloucester Street, Compromise Street, Spa Creek Bridge, Eastport Plaza, Bay Ridge Avenue, Bay Forest Plaza, Forest Drive and Spa Road
  • Orange Route: A counterclockwise loop from the transfer point via Spa Road, Forest Drive, Annapolis Market Place, Forest Drive, Tyler Avenue, and Hilltop Lane, serving Greenbriar Gardens, the Fountains, and Robinwood on route extensions
  • Gold Route: Two loops on the same route, one operating clockwise and one counterclockwise, linking downtown and the Parole area. From the Spa Road transfer point the route serves West Street, Church Circle, Rowe Boulevard, Bestgate Road, Annapolis Mall, Riva Road, the Annapolis Harbour Center, Aris T. Allen Boulevard, Forest Drive, and back to Spa Road
  • Brown Route: Route deviation service operating as two loops, one clockwise and one counterclockwise, on the same route, this route provides ADA service, evening and Sunday services. The scheduled route covers West Street, Main Street, Compromise Street, the Spa Creek Bridge, Bay Ridge Avenue, Forest Drive, and Riva Road
  • C-40: Route deviation service linking Edgewater, the Spa Road transfer point, Church Circle, and Anne Arundel Community College
  • C-60: Serves Annapolis at the Spa Road Transfer Point, Arundel Mills, Cromwell Light Rail Station and the BWI Airport.
  • Trolley Shuttle: Navy-Marine Corps Stadium parking lot/Church Circle/City Dock (off-peak only)

Corridor Transportation Corporation (CTC) - Connect-A-Ride services in West Anne Arundel County:

  • Route B: Laurel Mall to Maryland City
  • Route F: Laurel Briarwood Drive to NSA (peak only)
  • Route J: Laurel Mall/Arundel Mills Mall /Cromwell light rail station/Glen Burnie/Freetown
  • Route K: Arundel Mills Mall/Severn/Meade Village/Pioneer City/Seven Oaks/Odenton MARC/Odenton
  • Route M: Shuttle service between the Odenton Fire Department parking lot and the Odenton MARC station

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA):

  • Metrobus B-29 peak hour service from Crofton to New Carrollton, and B-30 service from BWI Airport/BWI Business Park light rail station to the Greenbelt Metrorail station

Carolina Trailways/Greyhound:

  • Intercity bus service from Annapolis Washington, D.C., Ocean City, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Amtrak:

  • Intercity rail passenger service is available at the BWI Airport rail station
