Planning & Zoning Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Section is responsible for maintaining the Department’s digital databases and maps, and analyzing information for internal and public use. We strive to meet the needs of our customers with the most accuracy possible. Together the GIS and Research Sections perform a variety of services to County Agencies and the general public. GIS Data Formats - Anne Arundel County's GIS layers are stored as ESRI shapefiles. The P&Z GIS Section uses ArcGIS 9.1x for their map production and analysis.
- Our map data ranges from 1 inch = 200 feet to 1 inch = 600 feet for its accuracy.
- All of our map data is projected to the US Stateplane Coordinate System for Maryland and is in NAD83 Feet - This map projection is applicable for all Anne Arundel County data.
