QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years or older, must have sufficient education to understand written and oral instructions, and must have reliable transportation. Must pass a background check and Drug & Alcohol Test, and must be available mornings and afternoons. Must be able to work out-of-doors in inclement weather. Must also be able to endure standing for periods of time. SALARY: The current pay rate for Crossing Guards in Anne Arundel County is $10.53 per hour. Crossing Guards are paid for every school day during the school year, including holidays when schools are closed. Candidates may be offered optional summer employment assisting various county offices provided by the Anne Arundel County Police Department. This job is considered temporary/seasonal. Uniforms are provided by the Anne Arundel County Police Department. DUTIES OF POSITION: School Crossing Guards direct pedestrian crossings and ensure the safety of children, while remaining alert to traffic hazards. Requires punctuality and remaining at work location until conclusion of assignment. Crossing Guards are hired in a substitute capacity, unless a permanent crossing is immediately available. Prior to being assigned, you will receive extensive training in all aspects of the job, including traffic direction and control. |
