Job Description: An Ombudsman is a resident advocate for persons residing in long term care facilities such as nursing homes and assisted living homes. Duties include receiving and investigating complaints made by or on behalf of residents. They educate consumers on residents' rights and best practices. They advocate for quality care and are a regular presence in the facilities. Works with county, state, and federal agencies to ensure compliance with regulations. Promoting community involvement with volunteer opportunities.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work, gerontology, nursing, psychology, or a related field and 2 or more years experience in advocacy in long term care.
