Minor Force Main Leak Contained As Complex Repair Plans are Finalized

Publish Date: 01/06/2014

Annapolis, Maryland (January 6, 2014) - Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works (DPW) crews continue to manage and maintain a minor force main leak in Pasadena as a schedule for the repairs are finalized.  Due to the location of the affected pipe, the work will be complex and require a temporary shutdown of several sewage pump stations to complete.

DPW officials have provided the staff and equipment necessary to safeguard the environment and ensure excess flow does not reach a waterway prior to completion of repairs.  Officials have also provided the staff and equipment necessary to maintain the integrity of the wastewater system.  Crews continue to constantly monitor the site to contain and capture any excess flow using a vactor truck.  During vactor operations, traffic control measures will be necessary to ensure worker and motorist safety.  Drivers are asked to use caution in this area and obey the direction of traffic signs and flagmen.

The repairs will be scheduled to take place overnight to limit any inconvenience to residents in the service area.  A timeline for the work will be announced later in the week.
