County Executive Leopold Announces “State of Fort Meade” Meeting in Annapolis

Representatives to attend from eight counties and three cities

Annapolis (January 18, 2013) - County Executive John R. Leopold today announced that Col. Edward C. Rothstein will present a “State of Fort Meade” briefing to elected officials in Annapolis on January 23.

“Fort Meade has a workforce of 56,000 people and an economic impact on the region exceeding $20 billion,” County Executive Leopold said. “We are moving beyond base realignment and into the expansion of Cyber Command and the recapitalization of the National Security Agency. It is vitally important to bring all of our partners together to maximize the success of the State’s largest employment center.”

The meeting will be held at the Lowe Office Building, located at 6 Bladen Street, in Room 145, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. It is sponsored by the Fort Meade Regional Growth Management Committee, which includes representatives from Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Talbot and Queen Anne’s counties, as well as Baltimore City, Bowie and Laurel.

The discussion will center on the ever-increasing missions of Fort Meade and how to foster working relationships between all stakeholders, as well as improved communications and planning.
