County Executive Laura Neuman and County Council Provide Funding to Study Anne Arundel County Public School Facilities
Annapolis, Maryland (May 31, 2013) — Anne Arundel County Executive
Laura Neuman and the County Council today announced funding in the
supplemental budget of $750,000 to update the Anne Arundel County Public
Schools’ Strategic Facilities Utilization Master Plan.
“The plan has not been updated for 10 years and now is the time to
make appropriate revisions to ensure that our public school facilities
are safe and healthy environments to foster education,” said County
Executive Neuman. “The Strategic Facilities Utilization Master Plan
is an important tool for the Board of Education as it prioritizes school
projects and associated funding.”
MGT of America, Inc., the original consulting firm that completed the
initial plan will also complete the update. Master planning and
identification of facility design, construction and modernization is
necessary in order to have effective school facilities. MGT of America,
Inc. will prioritize improvements, additions, and new facilities and
provide budget recommendations.
“I would like to thank the County Council for recognizing the
importance of updating this study and recommending the funding in the
supplemental budget,” added County Executive Neuman.
