Annapolis Area Library’s ‘Community Helpers Day’

Guest list includes Depts. of Health & Natural Resources, Annapolis Circulator Trolley and Coast Guard

(August 8, 2014 – Annapolis, MD)  The Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) is excited to host a family-friendly gathering of local institutions at the Annapolis Area Library for its ‘Community Helpers Day’ on Wednesday, August 13.

“Growing up, the library was my second home, and I am so pleased that our county libraries not only offer events that encourage a love of reading, but also host helpful functions like Community Helpers Day to highlight our public safety and community organizations,” said County Executive Laura Neuman.

Barring an emergency, children and families will be able to take an up-close look at a fire engine, police car and SWAT vehicle, and also have the chance to speak with uniformed men and women from the Annapolis Fire Department and the Annapolis Police Department.

Kids will be able to climb on board the Annapolis Circulator Trolley, experience wildlife specimens courtesy of the state Department of Natural Resources, and enjoy a bread-making demonstration hosted by Great Harvest Bread Co. as well.

Many other community groups will also be engaging children, such as the Coast Guard, the state Department of Health, Anne Arundel Medical Center and READ Therapy Dogs. See the list below for a full list of groups to attend.
