Anne Arundel County Water Reclamation Facilities Recognized
For Perfect Wastewater Discharge Permit Compliance
Cox Creek and Maryland City Water Reclamation Facilities Join
Broadneck and Broadwater and Peak Performance Award Recipients
Annapolis, Maryland (August 5, 2014) – The Cox Creek and Maryland City Water Reclamation Facilities (WRF) are the latest Anne Arundel County wastewater treatment plants to earn National Association Clean Water Agencies Peak Performance Awards. Both plants received Gold Peak Performance Awards for perfect National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) permit compliance during the entire 2013 calendar year. In June 2014, the Broadneck and Broadwater WRF’s earned Platinum Peak Performance Awards for five consecutive years of perfect NPDES permit compliance.
“Anne Arundel County’s permit compliance record is a tremendous source of pride for the entire Department of Public Works,” said DPW Director Chris Phipps. “Earning Peak Performance Awards each year spotlights the fact that our wastewater treatment plants are maintained, managed, and operated as well as any in the state. These awards are even more impressive when you consider that every one of these facilities has been undergoing extensive construction over the last two years to install enhanced nutrient removal technology. Operating these plants to this level of perfection in the midst of such ambitious construction efforts is a laudable achievement,” said Phipps.
