Publish Date: 09/03/2013

Executive Invited by Republican Counsel to Address Opposition to Rain Tax

Annapolis, MD (August 30, 2013) -- County Executive Laura Neuman has been invited by the Republican Clean Water Act Counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works’ Subcommittee on Environment and Public Works to testify about Chesapeake Bay Restoration, Progress and Challenges. The hearing will be held at 11 a.m., September 3, 2013, at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, 600 Discovery Lane, Grasonville, MD.

“I am honored to have been selected to testify before this group,” said Executive Neuman. “I am anxious to talk about my support of the Bay, along with my opposition to the rain tax and the undue burden it places on the citizens of Anne Arundel County.”

Other witnesses include Nicholas DiPasquale, Director, Chesapeake Bay Program, Environmental Protection Agency; William C. Baker, President, Chesapeake Bay Foundation; and Paul Spies, Agricultural Conservation Planner, Chester River Association.

“I am pleased that Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman will provide testimony at next week’s hearing on Chesapeake Bay restoration,” said Sen. David Vitter (R), Louisiana. “The County Executive provides an effective voice for those who want restoration to involve more than just regulatory authorities and environmental groups, and I look forward to her testimony.”
