County Executive Leopold to Join Public Safety Personnel on 9-11 Tribute to the Fallen

Memorials offer places to reflect

Annapolis, MD (September 6, 2012) - County Executive John R. Leopold today encouraged the public to join him in paying tribute to the public safety personnel, victims and troops who have lost their lives on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on our nation.

“Our memorial featuring steel beams from the World Trade Center has become an important place to reflect and learn about a day that will forever live in infamy,” County Executive Leopold said. “We encourage the public to pay tribute, reflect, and participate in a day of service.”

County Executive Leopold will join public safety personnel at the 9-11 Memorial, located at Police and Fire Department Headquarters in Millersville, for a moment of silence at 8:50 a.m. on September 11, 2012. There will also be a ceremony on Saturday, September 8, 2012, starting at 8:30 a.m., at the World War II Memorial in Annapolis, followed by a shoreline cleanup event at Jonas Green Park, located at the foot of the Naval Academy Bridge.
