Extensive and Complex Culvert Repairs Extend Closures in Crownsville and Davidsonville
Annapolis (October 7, 2011) – This week, the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works Bureau of Highways (BOH) reopened Chesterfield Road, Hog Farm Rd, Energy Court and Harwood Road after completing needed roadway washout repairs resulting for the flash floods associated with Tropical Storm Lee. Since prioritizing the repair and reopening of 25 Tropical Storm Lee-related road closures three weeks ago, all 12 partially blocked and all but two fully closed roadways have been repaired and reopened well ahead of the September 15, 2011 announced time line.
"Our forces did an excellent job responding to the storms and their aftermath," County Executive Leopold said. "I want to thank all of our Department of Public Works employees and contractors for a job well done."
As anticipated, Old Herald Harbor Road between H. Diggs Lane and Bill Carr Road in Crownsville and Patuxent River Road from Queen Anne Bridge to Farmers Lane in Davidsonville remain closed until extensive and complex culvert repairs are designed and completed. Detours remain in place at these locations to re-route traffic around the blocked sections of roadway.
Barrels and barriers may also remain in certain areas and road edges as work continues to repair guardrails. Motorists are urged to respect and obey these road barriers for their own safety and the safety of the traveling public.
