County Executive Leopold Announces Approval of Federal Funding for Tropical Storm Lee
Total cost for storms was more than $3 million
Annapolis, MD (October 6, 2011) - County Executive John R. Leopold today announced that Anne Arundel County has been declared eligible for reimbursement of its costs resulting from Tropical Storm Lee.
“Lee brought significant rainfall and led to extensive damage of our roads and equipment,” County Executive Leopold said. “When the costs of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee are added together, the total expense exceeded $3 million.”
The Federal Emergency Management Agency reimburses jurisdictions for 75 percent of their costs. Anne Arundel County spent $1.1 million responding to Irene, and is eligible for reimbursement for preparation activities associated with that storm in addition to the $2 million in costs associated with Lee.
Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee caused downed trees, power outages, road closures and damage to equipment.
