County Executive Leopold Invites the Public to Attend Odenton MARC Circulator Bus Workshop
Route will connect MARC, Piney Orchard and Ft. Meade
Annapolis, MD (December 27, 2010) - County Executive John R. Leopold will host a workshop on January 4 at Piney Orchard Elementary School to introduce a new bus circulator connecting Piney Orchard riders with the Odenton MARC station and the Fort Meade Shuttle Bus.
"This service has been in the planning and outreach stages for over a year, during which time I personally asked commuters what routes would benefit them," County Executive Leopold said. "They all were frustrated by the crowded parking lot at the MARC station, and many indicated they would take a bus if one was available."
The County has received two 26-passenger buses from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and will be using these new vehicles to operate the route currently referred to as the M Route. This route, which will be operational by February, will both provide a community connection to the Odenton MARC Station and will also support Base Realignment and Closure activities at Fort George G. Meade. The workshop will take place at 7 p.m. at the school, located on Strawberry Lake Way in Odenton.
"Recognizing that availability, desirability and convenience are paramount to long-term success, the goal of this service is to provide a reliable and desirable means of public transit during both the morning and afternoon peak periods for residents located both in and around the Odenton area of West County," County Executive Leopold said.
