Work to repair the failed culvert underneath Rutland Road is expected to begin next week Annapolis (05/14/2010) The repairs require working in an active stream channel that is fed from a very large drainage area requiring a coordinated and responsible strategy for maintaining stream flows, especially during storms. Responsibly maintaining stream flows will prevent: further damage to the failing road bed; further flooding of the road; and washout of sediment into the stream. The County is finalizing plans that meets these objectives and expects to return the road to service by the first week of July.
The Department of Public Works apologizes for the inconvenience this road closure has caused residents and motorists. However, in the interest of public safety, it is necessary that we complete repairs to culvert system before Rutland Road is re-opened. |
