Marzucco joined the Administration in 2006 after working for the Department of Detention Facilities and as a budget director for Recreation and Parks. He played an important role in opening the Bill Burton Fishing Pier, laying the groundwork for completion of the South River Greenway and obtaining funding for turf fields at County high schools. He was recently named a Hero of the South River. "It was a pleasure to work for County Executive Leopold and interact with the citizens of this County on a daily basis," Marzucco said. "I am excited at the opportunity to spend more time with my family and continue to enjoy our parks and natural resources as a private citizen." Rick Anthony, currently a Special Assistant to the County Executive, will serve as interim Director effective June 1. Anthony has served as football commissioner of the Edgewater Blue Devils and sits on the transition board to merge three athletic organizations into one South River Youth Athletics. He is an elder at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship Church, where he leads a men’s group and overseas athletic activities. Anthony previously served in the Air Force and worked for the County for over 10 years as a Pre-trial Investigator and House Arrest Coordinator. He lives in Edgewater with his wife, Danielle, and their four children. |
