Cyber Center slated for Glen Burnie Town Center
Annapolis (October 4, 2010) — County Executive John R. Leopold today praised the County Council for its unanimous approval of $1.1 million for Anne Arundel County Community College to open new Cyber Labs. “This funding will go a long way toward preparing our students to compete in the global economy,” County Executive Leopold said. “Anne Arundel County is the epicenter of cyber security in the Nation, and the jobs are here. We must capitalize on this opportunity to make our students the most competitive for these technology-based jobs.”
The Leopold Administration provided the first funding to start the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program at the college. With the approval of the County Council, the County has spent $3 million to date on this important program. The Council vote tonight restored the $1.1 million cut from County Executive Leopold’s FY2011 budget request to support the new cyber labs at Glen Burnie Town Center.
