Vote is special treatment for developers
Annapolis, MD (October 4, 2010) — County Executive John R. Leopold today issued the following statement about the County Council’s unanimous override of his veto: “The Council’s vote is a victory for special interests over citizens,” County Executive Leopold said. “I am proud to join the League of Conservation Voters, the General’s Highway Council of Civic Associations, the Sierra Club, the League of Women Voters and concerned citizens in opposition to this zoning amendment. Currently there are more than 400 applications for zoning changes in the County, but the County Council is letting one group of developers get at the front of the line.” The zoning amendment designates a special zone for the builders of Arundel Gateway, a 300-acre development of residential, retail and commercial property.
