Shortened season nets more than twice as much as past seasons Annapolis (March 11, 2009) - County Executive John R. Leopold today congratulated the Department of Recreation and Parks for an outstanding season at Quiet Waters Ice Rink that netted revenues and attendance figures roughly double that of previous years. "We had high hopes for the rebuilt ice rink, but we never expected this incredible turnout," County Executive Leopold said. "Best of all, the new equipment showed no signs of the problems that kept the facility closed for so long. These figures indicate that the ice rink has been a cost effective amenity prized by county residents." "The season ended recently with total revenues of $184,904 from Thanksgiving weekend to March 1. By comparison, total revenues were about $85,000 each for the two previous seasons that ended in 2002 and 2003. There were 24,079 visitors to the rink this season, compared to about 13,000 in the previous two years," County Executive Leopold said. |
