28th Straight Award from Government Finance Officers Association Annapolis (May 13, 2009) - County Executive John R. Leopold today congratulated the Office of Finance for winning the Excellence in Financial Reporting award for the 28th straight year. "The Office of Finance has done a great job making sure that the County’s books are in order, and 28 years of recognition is a tremendous honor," County Executive Leopold said. "The excellent work of the Office plays a key role in maintaining our strong bond rating from Wall Street." The peer review is conducted by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The comprehensive annual financial report by the County was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C. |
