County Executive Leopold Unveils New Plaque Honoring Fallen Anne Arundel Heroes

Recognizes More than 250 Men and Women

Annapolis (May 15, 2009) - County Executive John R. Leopold today unveiled an honorary plaque at the Arundel Center with the names of fallen heroes from Anne Arundel County who fought and died in four major wars.

"We can never recognize the service of our armed forces enough for the enormous cost they pay to defend our country," County Executive Leopold said. "This is a small token of our appreciation to remind generations of young people that their friends, family and neighbors served their nation with honor."

Compiling the names required a great deal of research by the County’s Office of Community and Constituent Services, locating lists for the different wars and determining County residents from zip codes and hometown.
