County Executive Leopold Praises Dismissal of CASA’s Lawsuit

Annapolis, Maryland (September 9, 2009)- Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold today praised the Montgomery County Circuit Court dismissal of a lawsuit filed against Anne Arundel County by CASA de Maryland, Inc.

"I am extremely satisfied with the Montgomery County Circuit Court’s ruling and believe that my commitment to open and transparent government has been affirmed," said Mr. Leopold.

CASA de Maryland, Inc. is a Latino and immigrant organization in the state that represents emigrating Central Americans. This lawsuit challenged the County’s response to a Public Information Act request for documents related to the June 30, 2008 raids by Anne Arundel County Police and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) which resulted in the recent conviction and sentencing of Robert T. Bontempo, Jr. of Annapolis Painting Services.
