Bra Art Contest Online Voting October 5 - 23

Vote for your favorite Bra Art! The Bra Art Cup of the Month Challenge is a competition that promotes the importance of breast cancer prevention. The challenge, which is in its fifth year, is sponsored by the Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s Learn To Live program and the Annapolis Quilt Guild. Participants have submitted decorated bras that serve as a tribute to women’s wellness and to friends, relatives and others who have been a source of inspiration and support for breast cancer awareness, screening and treatment.

This year’s 34 entries can be viewed beginning October 5 on the Department of Health Web site. Click on "Bra Art Challenge Voting" in the "Hot Topics" section at the top of the home page. Viewers can vote for their favorite entry and inspirational story through October 23, 2009. Online voting is free and open to the public. Only one vote per e-mail address is permitted.

The decorated bras will be displayed at A La Mode, 32 West Street in Annapolis, and at Paradigm, 179 Main Street in Annapolis, through October. Past year’s entries can also be viewed at the Centre at Glen Burnie, 6711 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

Learn To Live is a Department of Health program that encourages County residents to reduce their risk of developing cancer and other serious illnesses by making healthy lifestyle choices such as eating a healthy diet, quitting smoking and getting regular cancer screening. For more information on the Learn To Live programs, visit www.LearnToLiveHealthy.org or call the Learn To Live Line at (410) 222-7979.
