County Executive Leopold Invites Public Comment on Possible Purchase of Boat Ramp Facility

County would own and operate ramp in Pasadena

Annapolis (February 23, 2009) - County Executive John R. Leopold said today he is seeking public comments on a proposal to add a County owned and operated boat ramp facility in Pasadena.

"Access to our waterways should not be limited to only those who can afford it," County Executive Leopold said. "I stand by my commitment to improve our public facilities and welcome thoughts from the public on how best to achieve this goal."

Director of Recreation & Parks Frank Marzucco and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Erik Robey will host a public meeting to solicit input on the county’s proposal to purchase and operate a recreational boat launch facility at 8266 Riverside Drive in Pasadena. The parcel under consideration is currently a privately-owned marina with parking and a one-lane boat ramp. The property adjoins John H. Downs Memorial Park.

The public meeting will be held on Thursday, February 26th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., in the Chesapeake Bay Middle School cafeteria, located at 4804 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122.

If acquired, this property will mark the first County-owned and operated public boat launch.
