County Executive Leopold Urges Residents to Attend "BRAC Jobs 101" to Learn about Job Opportunities

Event will feature representatives from government and private sector

Annapolis (May 18, 2009) - County Executive John R. Leopold today urged residents to come to "BRAC Jobs 101" at Meade High School, where government and private sector representatives will explain the kinds of defense-related opportunities coming to the County.

Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation is sponsoring the event, on June 3. from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

"Base Realignment and Closure at Fort Meade offers a tremendous opportunity for our residents to compete in the global economy with high-paying technology sector jobs," County Executive Leopold said. "This event will help those interested find out everything they will need to know."

Outreach partners of the event include the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, the BWI Partnership, the Ft. Meade Alliance, the West County Chamber of Commerce and the BRAC Task Force.

Several prime contractors will join a corporate panel, which will present information about the security clearance process and answer questions from the audience. The event is free and open to the public. For more information and to register in advance, go to www.aawdc.org.
