Annapolis, MD - County Executive John R. Leopold announces that, on Monday, April 21, construction began on the new ice rink at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. The contractors, Ice Builders, have begun demolition work on the floor of the old rink. Work will continue throughout the summer and early fall with a completion date set for October 15, 2008. The ice rink is scheduled to open for public skating in November 2008. "I am pleased to see that the County will have a fully operational ice rink once again, where Anne Arundel County families will enjoy spending time together at the rink in the beautiful setting of Quiet Waters Park," said County Executive John R. Leopold. Temporary fencing has been installed surrounding the work site. For safety purposes, park patrons who regularly walk near the Visitor Center and the construction site will be redirected.
