County Executive Leopold Named Grand Marshall of the Pasadena Caring and Sharing Parade

Event raises funds and food for the holidays

Annapolis (October 28, 2008)-County Executive John R. Leopold has been named Grand Marshall of the 13th Annual Pasadena Caring and Sharing Parade to be held this Sunday.

The parade, sponsored by the Pasadena Business Association, will feature several community groups working to provide hot meals for families during Thanksgiving and the holiday season. County Executive Leopold will march with Boy Scout Troop 870, as well as other Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from the Four Rivers district.

"This is a great event that focuses on helping our neighbors in need," County Executive Leopold said. "The holidays are a time to celebrate with our families without forgetting the families that are struggling through hard times."

Parade watchers are encouraged to come with food or checks to donate. In one year, the event collected more than 22 tons of food for needy Pasadena residents.

"It’s become an annual event that really shows you what Pasadena is all about, that people are willing to share with the less fortunate members of the community," said event Chairman Tom Redmond. "County Executive Leopold shares this commitment, and has participated in the parade for many years."

The parade starts at 2 p.m., and proceeds from Tick Neck Park south on Tick Neck Road to Mountain Road. It then turns right and proceeds to East Shore Road, turning right before finishing at George Fox Middle School. For more information, call (410) 360-4722.
