County Executive Leopold Appoints Attorney Douglas Clark Hollmann Administrative Hearing Officer

Annapolis resident has represented civic and business groups

Annapolis (December 22, 2008) - County Executive John R. Leopold announced today the appointment of Annapolis attorney Douglas Clark Hollmann as Administrative Hearing Officer. Hollmann replaces Stephen M. LeGendre, who has accepted a position with the Howard County Council.

Hollmann comes from a diverse background having served as an Assistant District Attorney, a U.S. Department of Justice lawyer and even a stint as an attorney in the Anne Arundel County Office of Law. His clients have included maritime businesses, civic groups such as the Cape St. Claire Improvement Association and the county’s Board of Education.

"Douglas Clark Hollmann was selected from a very impressive group of finalists after a national search," said County Executive Leopold. "He is someone I think will judge cases fairly and listen to both sides."

Hollmann is a graduate of Duke University and Columbia Law School. His appointment is effective Jan. 5. The Administrative Hearing Office conducts public hearings on all petitions for zoning reclassifications, special exceptions and variances.

"I want to thank County Executive Leopold for choosing me, and I am excited at this opportunity," Hollmann said. "Having been a lawyer representing one side of the street or the other, it is exciting to be in the middle where I can go wherever I think the right side is. It is an honor to serve the people of Anne Arundel County."
