Veteran Health Department Administrator of nearly 30 years Annapolis (November 17, 2008) - County Executive John R. Leopold today named Douglas L. Hart the interim Health Officer, effective Dec. 1, replacing outgoing Health Officer Frances B. Phillips. Hart came to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health in 1979 and he has previously served as the Department’s Deputy Health Officer, the Director of Administration and the Human Resources Director. "Doug Hart has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to carry forward the great work that Fran Phillips started," County Executive Leopold said. "He has executive management experience and deep institutional knowledge that will create a smooth transition." "I am pleased to have the opportunity to help guide the department through this transition period as the Administration searches for a permanent Health Officer," Hart said. "We have many needs in this County, and it is a great challenge to take them on." Phillips starts her new position with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on December 1. |
