County Executive Leopold Announces Impact Fee Endorsement by Sierra Club and Commercial Builders

County Council to Vote on Monday

Annapolis (October 31, 2008)-County Executive John R. Leopold announced today that two major groups have thrown their support behind compromise legislation to raise impact fees after a temporary reduction to stimulate the economy.

The endorsements came from the Anne Arundel Sierra Club and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, just a few days before a final vote by the County Council.

"The endorsements by these two groups are reflective of the widespread support for this compromise, which was offered as an amendment by County Council Chairman Cathleen Vitale and strongly endorsed by this Administration," County Executive Leopold said. "Also significant are the recent poll findings by the Anne Arundel County Community College Center for the Study of Local Issues that 63 percent of County residents support higher impact fees."
