County Executive John R. Leopold Announce Crownsville Conservation Grant

Annapolis (July 3, 2008) - Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold announced today that Crownsville Conservancy, Inc. is being awarded $44,870 from the County’s Conservation Trust Fund. This award will assist the Conservancy in securing conservation easements on multiple lots in the Herald Harbor community. This initiative will supplement current preservation activities within the Severn River watershed and add to the Severn Run Greenway.

"I have made preserving open space in Anne Arundel County a priority in my Administration," County Executive Leopold said. "This puts our commitment to protecting our natural resources and precious open space in action. This grant will help preserve environmentally sensitive land and provide support to our local Land Trusts."

The Conservation Trust Fund was established in FY 1990 and has provided $219,490 through FY 2004 to several local Land Trusts, including Severn River Land Trust, South County Conservation Trust, Bay Ridge Trust, and Anne Arundel Conservation Trust. After being dormant for three years, the program has now reopened.
