County Executive Leopold Appoints Boschert as Chairman of Veteran Affairs Commission

Former delegate a longtime advocate for veterans

ANNAPOLIS (November 5, 2008) - County Executive John R. Leopold today named former State Delegate David Boschert chairman of the County Veterans’ Affairs Commission. Boschert is currently a member of the Commission.

Boschert, a retired Marine and a former colleague of County Executive Leopold’s in the House of Delegates, was an advocate for veterans’ benefits in his nine years in the State Legislature.

"This Administration is committed to giving veterans a voice in government, and Mr. Boschert has been an advocate for tax relief and other programs to benefit our service men and women, active and retired," County Executive Leopold said. "Mr. Boschert shares my priority interest in having the Commission serve as a clearinghouse for veterans in need of information regarding a variety of services."

Boschert’s term runs until 2010 on the 13-member Commission. The charge of the Commission is to help ensure adequate consideration of veterans in employment, education, training and public programs.

"I’m pleased to support the County Executive’s initiatives and to help him achieve his goals in supporting our veterans in Anne Arundel County," Boschert said.
