County Executive Leopold Advertises for New Administrative Hearing Officer
LeGendre accepts position in Howard County
Annapolis (December 4, 2008)-County Executive John R. Leopold announced today that a search has begun to replace Administrative Hearing Officer Stephen M. LeGendre, who has resigned to become Administrator of the Howard County Council.
The Administrative Hearing Office conducts public hearings on all petitions for zoning reclassifications, special exceptions and variances. The resignation is effective December 31. A search committee has been formed, led by Personnel Officer Andrea Fulton, and applications are due by December 10.
"The citizens of Anne Arundel County appreciate Steve LeGendre’s two decades of service in government," County Executive Leopold said. "With this position having such an important impact on the environment, planning, growth and development, this Administration will make every effort to identify the most competent successor."
LeGendre has been a County employee for 22 years, first joining the government as an Assistant County Attorney in 1986. He was later promoted to Deputy County Attorney before his appointment as Administrative Hearing Officer in 1997.
It has been an honor to serve the people of this County for so long, but this is a new challenge I am excited to get started on," LeGendre said. "I am grateful for County Executive Leopold’s confidence and support, and I will do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition."
