County Executive John R. Leopold Welcomes Middle East Peace Summit Attendees with Special Sign in Annapolis

'

Annapolis (November 26, 2007) - County Executive John R. Leopold will unveil a special sign “Smooth Sailing to Peace,” at 6:00 p.m. on November 26, 2007, to welcome the attendees of the Middle Eastern Peace Summit. The sign will be prominently displayed in front of the Arundel Center through November 27, 2007, at the corner of Northeast and Calvert Streets in Annapolis.

“Since Anne Arundel County is home of Annapolis, the sailing capital of the world, we hope this venue will provide the medium for smooth sailing to peace,” Mr. Leopold said.

Hosting the summit will result in minimal, short-term traffic delays for county residents with the only street closures taking place in Annapolis. In addition, Jonas Green Park in Annapolis will be closed to the public.

County Executive Leopold has encouraged all Anne Arundel County Police to stay vigilant in recognizing any suspicious activity.

“This is the third time Maryland has hosted this peace effort, so I hope that the third time is the charm,” Mr. Leopold added.
