County Executive Leopold Closes County Government Offices at 3:00 p.m.
Annapolis, MD (February 13, 2007) - Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold announced County Government offices will close today at 3:00 p.m.
The forecast calls for sleet, snow and freezing rain during the afternoon commute and includes snow accumulations of about 2 inches throughout the day. Due to this forecast, County Executive Leopold is closing County Government offices at 3:00 p.m. for non-essential personnel.
The forecast also calls for the area to receive about ¼ to ½ inch of ice and freezing rain during the overnight hours, with another 1 to 2 inches of snow by early tomorrow morning.
The Department of Public Works is staffing 12-hour shifts, and the Office of Emergency Management will staff the Emergency Operations Center throughout the night. EOC responders from the various departments have been advised of what is expected and will monitor the situation closely regarding the potential for down trees and powers lines.
