County Executive Leopold Applauds Foresters for 3rd-straight "Right Tree, Right Place" Award - BG E honors tree and trails specialists
Annapolis, MD (May 8, 2007) - County Executive John R. Leopold today congratulated County foresters upon receiving their third "Right Tree, Right Place" Award from Baltimore Gas & Electric Co.
Since the program’s inception in 2003, it has grown from 6 partner jurisdictions to 12, including Anne Arundel County. Partners have planted more than 2,440 replacement trees near power lines.
"Homeowners get frustrated when their trees on public property that contribute to overall appearance have to be trimmed back to avoid power lines. This program takes care of that problem at the outset by planting shorter trees like Dogwoods and Eastern Red Bud," said County Executive Leopold.
BGE will present County foresters and representatives of the Department of Recreation and Parks with a plaque recognizing their contribution to customer satisfaction on Tuesday, May 15, at 10 a.m., Heritage Complex, 2664 Riva Road, Chesapeake Conference Room. The team will also receive a citation from County Executive Leopold.
"I would like to thank everyone from Anne Arundel County who worked to improve electric reliability and safety, while enhancing the health and appearance of urban and community trees," said Dan Davis, senior forester for BGE.
